LEARNING TO LOVE YOU MORE

After the success of Fridays private view, within Middlesbrough's Old co-Operative building and the Inclusion of My repaired/improved speaker piece, there was some quite promising talk that the whole exhibition could be moving to uber prestigious Newcastle/Gateshead based art gallery The Baltic to run alongside an exhibition by John Lennon's Missus Yoko Ono. One day Robert... One Day!

CCAD TEXTILES AND SURFACE DESIGN SHOWCASE

Tubbyphunk we're approached to create a solution to package 35 students work from the prestigious BA Surface Design and Textiles course at hartlepool's CCAD campus.

We utilised a variety of unconventional graphic methods while remaining environmentally aware (as usual!) the aim: to create an initial 'woah!!' effect when distributed at New Designers '08 in London.

Each Individually screen printed folder (430 different designs in total) contains course information plus 35 student showcards, with the rest of the card utilised by students as promotional cards with the remainder 'meat packed' using an industrial vacuum packer at Tees Ship Supplies (big, big thanks to Mick for being a top sport!)

The overall reaction from recipients so far has been excellent, although it's been hard to release such a visually striking piece of design to the client, without feeling a little sad! more photographs to come soon.

UNIVERSITY OF TEESSIDE

Tubbyphunk have been commissioned to create an individual colour coded list of names of associates from the Digital City project from concept through to present day fellows, Artwork can be seen above all elevator points within the IDI building (Phoenix Building) behind the Southfield Pub on Southfield Road.

HEALTHY EATING ART...

Now & again Tubbyphunk work within their community, on this project we worked closely within youth groups in North Ormesby, Grove Hill and Hemlington (Middlesbrough) to create decorative canvas based artworks for the 3 youth centres, depicting healthy eating , play and sense of community.

PLUG - ELECTRONIC MUSIC EVENT BRANDING

The branding for Plug '08 is now well under way, Plug is Middlesbrough's first large scale electronic dance event to be held within the full available space at Middlesbrough Town Hall (Inside: Up & Downstairs + Outside), and promises a fresh line-up from all over the globe. BIRD IS THE WORD!

Tubbyphunk have recently completed the packaging and graphics for Newcastle based producer Mr Bird’s new EP, not content with glossy overproduced artwork and packaging we set him the task of collecting 100 pieces of cardboard in a process commonly known as ’skip-ratting’. The results were unique, striking and combined a number of multi disciplinary techniques (stencilling, stickers and DIY cd manufacture) some of them even smell of chinese five spice! (bizarre!)
